Kannada University, Hampi, in association with the Directorate of Pre-University Education, has taken the initiative to provide textbooks in physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics, in Kannada, from 2012-13. The process of getting the subjects translated from English to Kannada has begun at a workshop being held on the university campus since Friday. During the first two days, training was imparted to translators of physics and mathematics textbooks. On Sunday and Monday, a second set of people will undergo training in translating chemistry and biology.

The main objective of the project is to provide students from a rural background and those who from Kannada-medium schools with appropriate materials to learn science subjects at the college level, H.D.
